Color

bright may afternoons-
the vibrant splash of dogwoods
warm suburban yards

cirrus clouds-
among the flowers
surreptitious bees

Collection

melting chips of ice
droplets chase my finger down
the small of your back

a distant tor-
morning dew bends
the desert grass

Destination

leave this all behind
take my hand and run with me
into the new dawn

sunrise-
wind blown leaves
cross my path

Marriage

falling off my bike
I become one with the earth
for just a moment

june twilight-
our vows float away
on paper lanterns

Freedom

standing at the bow
salt spray drenching your sundress
the sun in your hair

terns on the wing-
flecks of sea foam
floating gently past

Drought

shutters hang askew
a cracked and peeling screen door
banging in the wind

fading laughter
shards of glass litter
the sun baked earth

Comfort

come to me softly
slip off your shoes and we’ll dance
in the evening sand

mid morning sun
warm black sand after
the retreating tide

Additions

with needle sharp teeth
and razor edged claws they tear
my curtains to shreds

silence-
the thunder
of tiny feet

Autumn

an eclipse of moths
dancing around the asters
joyful for the fall

october dawn
sycamore seeds
drifting in the breeze

Fractures

splintering sunlight
golden arrow shafts quiver
piercing the water

the dog days
interrupted by
shattered glass
