Pond

a thin skin of ice
on the koi pond slowly melts
in the morning sun

floating leaves-
autumn carp swim
in lazy circles

Snow

the taste of winter
falling from the sky for miles
to melt on my tongue

platform two-
frost gathers
on my lashes

Sand

asleep on the beach-
so far away from winter
and your icy touch

caribbean surf-
tracing lazy circles
on the small your back

Winter

delicate saplings-
bending to the fickle will
of the winter wind

bare branches-
a light dusting
of fresh snow

Venus

rising from the sea-
her newly formed shores made from
black and steaming glass

predawn chill-
venus and jupiter dance
in the twilight

Leaves

tattered autumn lace
drifting in the morning air
lofted by the breeze

leaf litter-
tulip poplars
shed their skin

Frost

icy autumn breath
a sliver of the full moon
gazes down on me

morning run-
frozen leaves
crunch underfoot

Floating

a sudden silence
painful accusations still
hanging in the air

tiny monarchs-
weightless
milkweed seeds

September

speak not of winter-
late autumn flowers bloom through
lightly falling snow

caramel sunlight-
autumn’s first
turning leaf

Snare

trapped in the darkness
never wanting to leave this
beautiful nightmare

hoarfrost-
webs frozen
on the moor
