kits in their den

as the fog rolls in
skeletons of spectral trees
fade into the night

foggy evening-
gnarled branches
scratch at my window

White

slices of the moon
slivered through the window blinds
drape across your back

snowy owl-
cold branches
in the dead of night

Cold

the constant north wind-
a forest of leaning trees
hunched against the cold

april fools-
a robin’s tracks
in the snow

Spring

over greening trees
the ashen face of winter
watches the sunrise

peep frogs-
rainfall on
the river

watching from afar-
a tree falls in the forest
the silence unheard

old oak tree-
climbing vines
reach for the su

the future turns to ashes
