Wonder
the morning commute-
unexpected lavender blossoms
along the roadside
–
traffic-
a glimpse of
an osprey
the morning commute-
unexpected lavender blossoms
along the roadside
–
traffic-
a glimpse of
an osprey
flowering milkweed-
monarchs unfurl their new wings
to catch the sunlight
–
iridescence-
concentric rainbows
on the pavement
the garden abed-
ivory morning glories
closed against the night
–
morning dew-
a honeybee drinks
from a lambs ear
under a shade elm
I leave a small stone marking
the site of my grave
–
cut white lilies-
so casually
discarded
milkweed in the wind-
beside the ancient live oak
I bury our bones
–
a lonesome gong-
pale wisps of trees
fade in the mist
lavender shadows-
flowers from a tuscan yard
in a patch of sun
–
cardinal songs-
a sun flower
turns its head
the dawning solstice-
children of the earth and sky
taste the rising sun
–
pheasant’s eyes-
ghosts of stone men
herald the sun
drowning each of us
in the blood of our comrades
within sight of shore
–
tulips blossom-
death takes no heed
upon who’s grave
a field of shadows-
the bargains made with myself
so swiftly broken
–
a full flower moon-
silver shadowed
daffodils
the first day of may-
tight buds become blossoms on
my crabapple tree
–
a flush of new green-
daffodils trumpet
the first of may
