Relationship

life gets in the way-
in my haste I neglected
to say I love you

shifting skies-
one simple
phone call

Sunday

warm morning birdsong-
my love asleep next to me
aglow in the sun

robin song-
curtains sway in
the morning breeze

Sleep

your hand grasps my thumb-
our breathing becomes one as
sleep takes you away

post bottle-
a twitch wakes you
for just a moment

Campfire

april darkling skies-
picking up dry kindling for
the seasons last fire

well worn stories-
glowing embers
float skyward

Grind

reaching from behind
the hands at his neck slowly
loosening his tie

watching ants-
his entire life
buttoned down

Spring

blue snow glories-
dry autumn leaves pushed aside
to make way for spring

muddy paw prints-
tracking spring
across my floors

Fair

taunting the punters-
precariously balanced
just before the plunge

the village fete-
powdered sugar
dusts my shirt

Forest

a forest clearing-
under a thicket the faun
waits for her mother

gauzy moonlight-
the woodland’s heart
whispers my name

Senses

sight not born of eyes-
I see every detail of
the shape of your soul

winter morning-
the smell of your pipe
still lingers

Travel

married to the road-
leaving you for months on end
for my asphalt bride

ragtop down-
the highway
a siren’s song
