Vapors
a flame extinguished-
I conjure up the darkness
to reclaim your soul
–
whisps of smoke-
a mirror
in the dark
a flame extinguished-
I conjure up the darkness
to reclaim your soul
–
whisps of smoke-
a mirror
in the dark
a forest clearing-
under a thicket the faun
waits for her mother
–
gauzy moonlight-
the woodland’s heart
whispers my name
against my interests-
I trade away my future
in lieu of my soul
–
a piercing gaze-
my breast
laid bare
an old red broomstick
the paint worn through to the wood
from countless fingers
–
deep in the attic-
sweeping out
forgotten dirt
below the surface-
shadows of nameless horrors
rise up unbidden
–
deep in the night-
wrenched from sleep by
echoes of dreams
the snick of scissors-
years of her identity
in piles on the floor
–
afternoon rain-
the buzz of gossip
and razors
on gossamer wings-
fate finds you leaving this vale
far before your time
–
endless night
dawn reaches out
her empty hand
black feathers gleaming
the final drop of rain falls
from a raven’s beak
–
a tempest-
swirls of cream
in my coffee
a waking nightmare-
here monsters fear to tread
into the darkness
–
black water-
probing the depths
of depravity
winter-fat raccoons
take refuge from the snow in
an abandoned crèche
–
christmas eve-
the snow on my roof
again undisturbed
