Millstone

Old memories found
In the back of the closet
Hiding in the gloom

Contentment

In our bed, half asleep
The years of comfort found in
The space between us

Missing

In a copse of trees
Entwined in vines, a slowly
Rusting tricycle

Passing

I caught your eye then
I glanced down at my cell phone
And you kept walking

Ephemeral

As midnight’s tide ebbs
The wet sand saves our footprints
But for a moment

Reminiscence

Smoke borne on the wind
Transporting me to the hearth
Of my childhood home

Passage

The vessel broken
one soul escapes to freedom
with a final breath

Passion

Our love together
Once bathed in fire, now kept warm
By an ember’s glow

Tears

Tiny rivulets
Reveal traces of pink skin
Down her dirty cheeks

Late

I arrived in time
To watch you walk away from
Our lives together
