Anger
dark clouds veil the sun-
abandoned by my shadow
alone once again
–
brooding skies-
the scowl of
thunderclouds
dark clouds veil the sun-
abandoned by my shadow
alone once again
–
brooding skies-
the scowl of
thunderclouds
standing by the sink
staring at my soapy hands
my momentum gone
–
blinders on-
running headlong
towards a dead end
I break a bit more
every time I remember
you’re not coming home
–
overcast skies-
again the postman
skips my house
a mournful windsong
whispering past long dead oaks-
the forest’s lament
–
graveside rain-
one last leaf
taken by the wind
anger in the air
reflections in the window
barely ghosts of us
–
cat tails-
the calm surface
minnows just below
the early morning sun
walks amid the wet grass and
turns the dew to gold
–
twilight-
memories of dreams
most elusive
in a dusty tin
a collection of the days
that lead me to you
–
withered leaves-
the memories of
an old diary
the late august sky-
from behind the thinning clouds
unfamiliar stars
–
the dead of night-
a pewter moon
rising
the time worn tombstones
children taken far too soon
their stories untold
–
a cardinal takes wing-
poppy blossoms
in the church yard
standing in a queue
at the end of my patience
quite unlike this line
–
wind blown sagebrush-
the road I’m on ends
at the horizon
