Change

champagne glass in hand-
ignoring the obvious
we toast our future

midnight sun-
a polar bear prowls
the city streets

History

on my mantlepiece
rest all the pieces of you
finally at peace

love letters-
ashes of
old flames

Midnight

hushed and reverent
watching the moonrise and the
rebirth of the year

midnight-
snow falls over
the farmer’s field

Loss

another phone call-
your tired face deeply etched
with dissapointment

drifting snow-
fox prints near
an empty hutch

Fire

a lovers embrace
two hot tempers intertwine
leaving just ashes

falling snow-
crackling in
our fireplace

Transformation

seeking inner peace
yearning to quench the darkness
that burns in my soul

wildfires-
a cold late
autumn rain

White

freshly cut lilies
pure and white and beautiful
laid upon his chest

city streets-
a blanket
of fresh snow

Grass

warm spring afternoon
rolling down a grassy hill
into a mass grave

wispy clouds-
grass stains and
smiling faces

Overtaken

shutting out the crowd
absolutely enthralled by
the shape of your words

rising moon-
night rolls over
the winter hills

Predawn

ahead of the dawn
plodding bleary eyed into
an ashen twilight

flannel sheets-
coyotes barking
before the sunrise
