Serenity
A lake flat as glass
The calm belies the hunger
Beneath the surface
A lake flat as glass
The calm belies the hunger
Beneath the surface
Waves crash on the shore
As uncounted grains of sand
Sift through my fingers
Tumbled river stones
Transforming into sand by
Water’s persistence
Dusk in the forest
Eerie tendrils of blue light
Draw me in deeper
Weightless in the sky
The rim of a silver cup
Spilling out the night
Dancing on the road
Windblown veils of white ribbon
As the snowfall starts
Windows glazed with ice
Outside raw winter winds are
Howling summer’s dirge
Unburdened release
Angry swollen torrents rage
Surging towards the sea
Winter’s minion howls
It’s frigid moonlight keening
Rends the mind and soul
Midnight’s lustrous moon
Bears witness to the promise
Of the newborn year.
