Sol
gathering sunlight
wakes the tangled vines of shy
morning glory blooms
–
rustling leaves
a shaft of light
warming my cat
gathering sunlight
wakes the tangled vines of shy
morning glory blooms
–
rustling leaves
a shaft of light
warming my cat
I can’t remember
dwelling in darkness since I
came into your light
–
barren trees
stand vigil
awaiting sunrise
the round amber moon
slides behind a silver veil
woven in the sky
–
heat lightning
revealing clouds
from within
blazing streaks of fire
tearing through the winter sky
dying as cinders
–
the predawn hours
an intrepid visitor
on my doorstep
when put to paper
a masterpiece is born from
a single feather
–
a stream flows
from my hand
in fits and starts
spreading alder boughs
provide little respite from
the stifling heat
–
impression
of my sole
in asphalt
joyful innocence
unencumbered by malice
that’s yet to be learned
–
the parched forest glen
desperately awaits
the lightning
while my life flies by
I can’t help but to notice
yours is standing still
–
frozen in flight
the languid sweep
of a hummingbird wing
brief is our passage
across the river of time
into the unknown
–
oak saplings
from acorns
never unearthed
thrust from a cliff side
tangled and sinuous roots
seeking some purchase
–
life
defiantly
persevering
