Singular

a single starling
adrift in the sea of sky
searching for it’s flock

rolling sea foam-
venus takes her place
in the darkening sky

Smitten

a shy sideways glance
from you in my direction
I’m instantly hooked

september sky-
grass in my hair
you on my mind

Need

lashed tight to the mast-
tempted by the siren song
of just one more drink

steaming pavement-
distant sirens bay
at the full moon

Depth

deep meditation-
searching for infinity
by looking within

lotus blossoms-
deeply breathing
the forest peace

Heat

living night to night
afraid of my own shadow
lest I feel the sun

crying gulls-
a distant sandbar
bakes in the sun

Echoes

I still feel you here
disturbing the emptiness
well after you’re gone

thunderclouds-
hard rain off
the tin roof

Change

as the sun descends
she draws the curtain of night
to unveil the moon

angry lovers-
the evening sun
sets the sky aflame

Hushed

the sounds of fresh snow
falling in the near darkness
sibilant whispers

snowfall-
lost in quiet
conversation

Repose

on a raven lake
the moon lies sleeping under
a blanket of stars

soft lapping-
the moon unwound
beside me

Vision

my view, distorted
looking up from the bottom
of this hole I’ve dug

a rimy pond-
peering up through
frozen cataracts
