Gouache
curling photographs-
remnants of an age gone by
taped to my mirror
–
sepia trees-
winter morning’s
gentle light
curling photographs-
remnants of an age gone by
taped to my mirror
–
sepia trees-
winter morning’s
gentle light
the time has come to
take my heart down off the shelf
and gift it to you
–
long winter shadows-
a snowshoe hare
braves the sun
cracks in the pavement
mirrored by the crows feet in
a homeless man’s face
–
ruins-
ivy climbs
crumbling walls
long icicles cling
tenaciously to the rocks
and flow to the ground
–
ice jam
the rising waters
chill my soul
caught out in squall
running through the rain, wet hair
plastered to her head
–
evening rain-
stepping from
a warm bath
sitting on my couch
not sure if I can get up
after shoveling
–
rabbit tracks-
a snowy owl
motionless
the solar transit
far to brief indeed on this
winter solstice day
–
winter reborn-
I depart and return
in darkness
seeking inner peace
yearning to quench the darkness
that burns in my soul
–
wildfires-
a cold late
autumn rain
shutting out the crowd
absolutely enthralled by
the shape of your words
–
rising moon-
night rolls over
the winter hills
ahead of the dawn
plodding bleary eyed into
an ashen twilight
–
flannel sheets-
coyotes barking
before the sunrise
