Moonlight

a cool autumn eve
the reclining crescent moon
asleep in the sky

a blue heron-
flying under
the misty moon

Nosferatu

crawling out of bed
passing by the hall mirror
my reflection gone

the dead of night-
awaiting your
invitation

Shore

a horseshoe crab shell
empty in the shadow of
an upturned rowboat

moonlit surf-
the lifeguard tower
stands empty

Lights

highway sedation-
numbed by the interplay of
streetlights and shadows

evening star-
a crow perched
atop a streetlight

Late

the party over-
blackened wicks smolder in the
citronella pots

constellations-
old friends and
old stories

Forsaken

still she counts the ships-
her thick wool sweater stained red
with the setting sun

date night-
she sits at a table
set for one

Evening

slowly fading coals-
the clink of empty bottles
being put to bed

indigo sky-
crickets singing
around the campfire

Empty

hundreds of candles-
an unlit testament to
this empty vigil

tumbled stone-
autumn’s first light
warms the piazza

Temple

a warm summer eve
mists gather in pools that drip
from the temple roof

temple stairs-
stone dragons
cloaked in moss

Light

the sun reaches down
and kisses the horizon
at the dawn of dusk

spreading warmth-
two more fingers
of liquid gold
