Morning

our fingers entwined-
the dusky blush of daybreak
mirrored in your face

the rising sun-
my finger traces
along your lips

Smoke

shadows of chimneys
painted on the rising smoke
by the setting sun-

curls of smoke-
your lipstick on
my cigarette

Evening

lighting up the sky-
the glow of paper lanterns
adrift in the night

evening stroll-
the dance
of fireflies

Decline

encroaching shadows
race to fill the void left by
the crumbling day

sleeping dogs-
the shade of
a dying elm

Bats

shrinking from the light
blended into the shadows
I’m invisible

dusk-
black clouds
rise from the earth

Trees

november evening-
skeletal trees charcoal black
in the fading light

graveyard’s edge-
bone fingers
in the mist

Leaves

tattered autumn lace
drifting in the morning air
lofted by the breeze

leaf litter-
tulip poplars
shed their skin

Colors

sunset on the lake
threading my wet fingers through
tangerine waters

salmon skies-
october morning
the hills ablaze

Light

glowing in the dark
the distant lights, reflections
off Jamaica bay

twilight-
each firefly
tells a story

Reflection

a golden eagle-
soaring as the sun sinks on
a cumbrian lake

reflections-
autumn leaves
in the water
