Grounding
the stones in my path
used to build a foundation
keeping me grounded
–
peace-
rain runs off
the temple roof
the stones in my path
used to build a foundation
keeping me grounded
–
peace-
rain runs off
the temple roof
an outdoor cafe
she watches the passersby
sipping her water
–
bare foot sun-
luminous in
a sheer skirt
a glowering moon-
the creak of a rocking chair
in an empty house
–
moonlit shadows-
your hand
pale in mine
from this day forward
two lives bound together by
simple bands of gold
–
rich brown earth-
massive oxen
yoked together
staring at the floor
scuffed and worn beneath my seat
from those in my shoes
–
dawn breaks-
outside the
waiting room
waves rise up and fall
the rhythm of the ocean
moves us together
–
surfing-
the swell
of your hips
looking back in time
pictures of who we once were
under cellophane
–
rich brown soil-
an old green tin
a child’s treasure
testing the waters-
I dip my toe in to check
if I’ll let you in
–
soft light-
my door
slightly ajar
wide open prairies
the promise of a new life
in every acre
–
covered wagons-
homesteads built
on sacred land
two dark silhouettes
framed in the open window
sitting side by side
–
tails twitching-
warm dreams
in the sunlight
