Daybreak

dawn by the lakeside
white herons fly over mist
lit by the sunrise

morning coffee
steam rises
off the grass

Fields

the november breeze
ushers in the harvest of
amber winter wheat

windblown clouds
shadows glide
over golden fields

Descent

leaves in the water
tumble down from rock to stone
laughing as they fall

autumn
slips away
from my piano

Evening

ghost of summer’s sun
ring tailed bandits in the night
making such mischief

october sky
arcturus settles in
to the throne of the king

Rainfall

flashes light the sky
the guttural wind, distant
whither comes the storm

laid bare
desperately
seeking shelter

Restless

wandering this earth
unseen, tired, yearning to be
finally at peace

midnight rain
gnarled branches
scrape my window

Arrogance

standing in judgement
my perceived righteousness trumps
your humanity

seething
holding back
the avalanche

Release

wrapped in a blanket
of condolence and comfort
still mired in grief

shooting stars
crossing skyward
on golden wings

Deluge

walking through the storm
cold rain running down her back
her umbrella, home

hammered tin
the slow drip of rain
through the roof

Silver

moonlight runs into
the soft hollow of your throat
and spills down your breast

blue black night
the grey owl
becomes the moon
