Luna

weaver of moonlight
roses follow her footsteps
wherever she roams

asleep-
walking with
an absent moon

Crossing

hand in hand with you
standing by the river’s edge
watching the drawbridge

tinted sunlight-
walking across
a fallen tree

Gaia

scrub trees, weeds and vines
she reasserts her claim on
the urban landscape

pottery shards-
new growth rooted
in broken asphalt

Sea

salty air, your hair
blown about your face by the
wind off the water

rising smoke-
below decks
on the ferry.

Watching

my ghosted reflection-
grey faces in the windows
of the passing train

stunning vistas-
guardrails floating
above the road

Frustration

my anger rising
holding back my tongue
while I try to breathe

irritation –
ring tails slip
into the shadows

Fin

time draws to a close-
I hold his hand, helping him
walk across this bridge

a pale horse-
the onus
of these souls

Train

a prairie sunrise-
rails rolling past my window
into the distance

crickets-
the silence of
a passing train

River

standing on the bridge
cold wind blowing through his coat
patiently waiting

a lover’s kiss-
the river opens
to greet the sea

Revival

take my outstretched hand
and let us walk together
across this threshold

distant mountain peaks-
over the dewey grass
the rising sun
