Vapors

a flame extinguished-
I conjure up the darkness
to reclaim your soul

whisps of smoke-
a mirror
in the dark

Wounded

against my interests-
I trade away my future
in lieu of my soul

a piercing gaze-
my breast
laid bare

Tarn

the forest silent-
a skeletal hand rises
from the black water

winter’s death-
dwelling beneath
dark brackish waters

Nightmare

lost in the mirror-
the only light comes from the
crack in my teacup

face splitting grins-
each gaping mouth
another door

Music

fingers cracked with age
settle on the well worn keys
of her piano

milky eyes-
memories of youth
and music

Disgust

a great bald eagle-
I’m forced to watch her greatness
fly on broken wings

a woodland pond-
the still water
brackish

Weather

the harsh morning sun-
touring the damage again
for the final time

green and black clouds-
through broken glass
the storm arrives

Death

the hand of darkness
dragging down the daylight as
the sun lies dying

ruthless sun-
vultures wait
in the thermals

Gone

on gossamer wings-
fate finds you leaving this vale
far before your time

endless night
dawn reaches out
her empty hand

Storm

black feathers gleaming
the final drop of rain falls
from a raven’s beak

a tempest-
swirls of cream
in my coffee
