Mist

on a sun warmed lake
fog’s skeletal fingers reach
for the morning moon

barefoot children-
laughter coats
the evening grass

Blanket

rustling blankets-
your padding to the bathroom
teases me from sleep

the drive home-
fallen leaves
blanket the road

Fall

summer’s final breath-
the wind in the autumn leaves
whispering goodbye

a covered bridge-
fallen leaves dance
before the rain

Gold

waiting on the sun-
geese fly before purple clouds
embroidered in gold

reflections-
golden koi
slowly pass

Trapped

in an old wheelchair
a young girl waits deep inside
the shell of herself

first light-
a sliver of dawn
beneath the door

Morning

midsummer morning-
a pair of cardinals perch
in the zebra grass

fields of mist-
a robin’s nest
full of shadows

Marsh

among the rushes
herons stand in the salt marsh
waiting for the tide

auburn sunrise-
dawn breezes stir
fields of cattails

Pets

shredded paper towels
last night’s garbage strewn about-
I know you’re to blame

morning sun –
in the doorway
indecisive

Dawn

shadows of the moon
climbing down from the treetops
to hide from the sun

lakeside dawn-
eider ducks
begin to stir

Morning

through lavender clouds-
the cheeks of the sky blushing
with the coming dawn

encroaching dawn-
last night’s candles
turned to smoke
