Reveal

peeling back the dark
exposing the ugly truth
to the light of day

low tide-
broken shells
on the sand

Waiting

my bedside vigil-
each moment slipping away
taking you with them

machines hum-
outside your window
a starless night

Frost

an overnight frost-
reluctant to let go of
these summer evenings

a new day born-
on the pumpkins
a touch ol frost

Fire

grey dying embers-
on rising smoke the campfire
draws its final breath

evening dew-
cooling ashes and
echoes of laughter

Storm

in the western sky
the sun sets on iron clouds
promising thunder

leaves in the wind-
the low rumble
of distant thunder

Blanket

rustling blankets-
your padding to the bathroom
teases me from sleep

the drive home-
fallen leaves
blanket the road

Fall

summer’s final breath-
the wind in the autumn leaves
whispering goodbye

a covered bridge-
fallen leaves dance
before the rain

Moonlight

moonlight in her hair-
she walks along the shoreline
and into the night

a turtle’s splash –
the moon wavers
on the water

Homeless

alone on the street
with scarcely a backwards glance
from the passers by

three threadbare coats-
his breath still clouds
the autumn night

Regret

living in this house-
a shrine to your past regrets
and those yet to come

low tide-
finding sea glass
and jellyfish
