White
the whiteness of bone
long buried in the desert
revealed by the wind
–
summer evening-
dogwood petals
in the grass
the whiteness of bone
long buried in the desert
revealed by the wind
–
summer evening-
dogwood petals
in the grass
a viking long boat
trailing ash and smoke floating
towards valhalla
–
central park-
cigar ashes on
the chess board
the scent of your hair
lingering on my pillow
greets me with the dawn
–
daybreak-
my arm draped around
your missing waist
gold and silver koi
resting by the water’s edge
scatter the moonlight
–
water lilies-
a dragonfly’s
reflection
shards of broken glass
strewn deeply across my path
yet still I walk on
–
moonlit surf-
hatchling turtles
dash for the sea
moving through aspic
living just outside of time
tired and alone
–
persistent rain-
a raven just
beyond the glass
a soul deeply flawed
ichorous and fetid cast
from a broken mold
–
bathing rituals-
filing ewers by
the riverbanks
puppets to a one-
dancing to unheard music
hung from tangled threads
–
skeletal fingers-
pulling taut
the threads of fate
a line of turtles
asleep on a fallen log
as I float on by
–
flat water-
silently
making waves
clearing the tables-
the bartender stacks the chairs
yet we’re still talking
–
lost in your eyes-
waiting to speak
two simple words
