Somnolent
the hum of the road
whispering it’s lullaby
rocking me to sleep
–
empty conch shells-
a rush of warm surf
overcomes me
the hum of the road
whispering it’s lullaby
rocking me to sleep
–
empty conch shells-
a rush of warm surf
overcomes me
leave this all behind
take my hand and run with me
into the new dawn
–
sunrise-
wind blown leaves
cross my path
a shy sideways glance
from you in my direction
I’m instantly hooked
–
september sky-
grass in my hair
you on my mind
lashed tight to the mast-
tempted by the siren song
of just one more drink
–
steaming pavement-
distant sirens bay
at the full moon
shortening my stride
slowing behind old lovers
walking hand in hand
–
icy harbor-
the crush of a
rising and falling tide
living with strangers-
years torn from my memory
replayed day by day
–
dimming light-
a quiet place
to lay my head
deep meditation-
searching for infinity
by looking within
–
lotus blossoms-
deeply breathing
the forest peace
alabaster hills
cherry blossoms harken to
the first blush of spring
–
snowdrops-
a hint of cherry
on your lips
washing and scrubbing
under this scalding water
still I can’t come clean
–
coal smoke-
a cardinal
on the snow
machine oiled blued steel
the weight of it heavier
than I expected
–
ice on the rocks-
another shot
added to my burden
