Pursuit

alone in the woods
dry rustling leaves in the wind
the snap of a twig

sear grasses
fueling the
inevitable

Fractures

splintering sunlight
golden arrow shafts quiver
piercing the water

the dog days
interrupted by
shattered glass

Nature

clinging to the light
for fear I may yet answer
when the darkness calls

spring rains
surging cataracts
once docile streams

Rebirth

the light of hope shines
across the vastness of space
from a long dead star

a fallen oak
sprouting
shiitakes

Change

light plays on the walls
alternating blue and red
the sirens, silent

puddles in the street
turning to steam
in the sun

Distance

across the table
the chasm between us grows
wider day by day

a sudden stampede
of white horses
August rains

Remnants

a resting mayfly
the dimples in the water
signaling a carp

spreading ripples
a gossamer wing
on the surface

Transience

blazing streaks of fire
tearing through the winter sky
dying as cinders

the predawn hours
an intrepid visitor
on my doorstep

Precipice

searing summer heat
just pushed our relationship
past the tipping point

a praying mantis
in search of her
post-coital snack

Reflection

feeling the glass give
reaching in through the mirror
to pull myself out

glassy water
ripples spread
across the surface
