Injustice
drowning each of us
in the blood of our comrades
within sight of shore
–
tulips blossom-
death takes no heed
upon who’s grave
drowning each of us
in the blood of our comrades
within sight of shore
–
tulips blossom-
death takes no heed
upon who’s grave
my rhododendrons-
robins erupt into song
just before the dawn
–
the sun rises-
heedless of the
whiskey and beer
as I leave this world
I pour my soul into you-
one last parting gift
–
out of the fire-
a perfect vessel
cracked
your hand grasps my thumb-
our breathing becomes one as
sleep takes you away
–
post bottle-
a twitch wakes you
for just a moment
the blankets askew-
as you start to fall asleep
we share the same breath
–
dream talking-
I lie beside you
and listen
white foam at her lips-
on ebon hooves she gallops
through the endless night
–
riderless-
the bearer of
secret horrors
much more so than life
death will be my defining
characteristic
–
a cold rain
the bus arrives
to take me back home
a flame extinguished-
I conjure up the darkness
to reclaim your soul
–
whisps of smoke-
a mirror
in the dark
against my interests-
I trade away my future
in lieu of my soul
–
a piercing gaze-
my breast
laid bare
the forest silent-
a skeletal hand rises
from the black water
–
winter’s death-
dwelling beneath
dark brackish waters
