Christmas

winter-fat raccoons
take refuge from the snow in
an abandoned crèche

christmas eve-
the snow on my roof
again undisturbed

Sleet

reemergent sun-
every blade of autumn grass
gleaming cut crystal

pewter light-
glazed branches
trap the moon

Consciousness

a coyote’s howl-
I walk out of my own skin
and right into yours

afloat-
my body below
an anchor

Orb

the late autumn moon-
rising from gold to silver.
above the treetops

evening snow-
low in the sky
an ivory moon

Journey

wrapped in white linen-
a flight of doves foreshadow
this final journey

evening shadows-
the winding road
into darkness

Caribbean

sea foam in her hair
warmed by the tropical sun
caressed by the breeze

ocean breeze-
rum runners in the shade
of a date palm

Early

sleep clouding my eyes
I drive into the sunrise-
a cold autumn moon

cold dark morn-
torn from the womb
of my comforter

Snowing

slow curls of wood smoke-
snow covers the cabin roofs
nestled in the trees

pine boughs-
bent and white
with autumn snow
#snowing

Sere

a cruel summer sun
the earth blistering beneath
her withering gaze

abandoned-
once fertile soil
becomes as dust

Wind

cold wind in my face-
through watering eyes I watch
hawks soar overhead

pure joy-
jowls flapping
in the slipstream
