Silence
a deer in the woods-
the chorus of spring peepers
suddenly silent
–
midnight-
startled awake by
preternatural stillness
a deer in the woods-
the chorus of spring peepers
suddenly silent
–
midnight-
startled awake by
preternatural stillness
rhapsody in blue-
the crush of humanity
just outside my ears
–
the subway shuttle-
a ragged busker
bows his violin
a time worn foot path
generations of sandals
eroding the stones
–
along the path-
moss grows over
the garden stones
a long meander-
river banks bent by the slow
persistence of time
–
weeping willows-
cattails and rushes
bend in the wind
evening in the woods-
footfalls in the the underbrush
betray my silence
–
a park bench-
convincing a crow
to let me sit
late afternoon sun-
snow fades to grass as winter
draws to a close
–
red feathers-
in the snow
a purple crocus
gauzy white and gray
shifting in the breeze on a
cerulean sea
–
morning sun-
dust rises from
the desert floor
dark forest shadows
stand in stark relief against
the cold moonlit snow
–
silver moonlight-
mercury in
retrograde
the treetops aglow
crimson branches reaching to
touch the new born sun
–
unfolding leaves-
the morning sun
kisses the trees
#sunrise
driving through the night
the asphalt beneath my wheels
becomes slick with snow
–
my future-
lost in the oncoming
headlights
