Mud

dark murky waters
dirt and debris stirred up from
raking the bottom

cold rain-
a dark past
muddied by truth

Light

a time of rebirth-
years spent living in the dark
rescued by your light

through the water
dancing reflections
from the surface

Seas

waiting for the sea-
an ancient mariner mourns
the arriving tide

bedraggled skies-
limp with rain over
an unkempt sea

Café

a sidewalk cafe-
lunch forgotten as a crow
lands on my table

al fresco-
a rain drop
in my coffee

Waterfall

born of the mountains
falling over age worn stone
scattering the sun

summer solstice-
roaring water
fills my ears

Lightning

low rolling thunder-
lightning crawls across the sky
rattling windows

summer night-
the sky lit by
heat lightning

Sea

offshore thunderstorms-
an old salt returns to the
bosom of the sea

crimson skies
a funeral boat
adrift and alight

Rot

a fallen cedar
rotting in the undergrowth
turning back to earth

soft underfoot-
a carpet of
rotting leaves

Still

summer afternoon-
the hollow ring of wind chimes
in the stagnant air

still water-
minnows gather
beneath the footbridge

Missed

the scent of your hair
lingering on my pillow
greets me with the dawn

daybreak-
my arm draped around
your missing waist
