Reveal
peeling back the dark
exposing the ugly truth
to the light of day
–
low tide-
broken shells
on the sand
peeling back the dark
exposing the ugly truth
to the light of day
–
low tide-
broken shells
on the sand
in the western sky
the sun sets on iron clouds
promising thunder
–
leaves in the wind-
the low rumble
of distant thunder
summer’s final breath-
the wind in the autumn leaves
whispering goodbye
–
a covered bridge-
fallen leaves dance
before the rain
a rotting boardwalk
crosses an estuary
flowing to the sea
–
low tide-
razor clams
burrow in the mud
moonlight in her hair-
she walks along the shoreline
and into the night
–
a turtle’s splash –
the moon wavers
on the water
waiting on the sun-
geese fly before purple clouds
embroidered in gold
–
reflections-
golden koi
slowly pass
alone on the street
with scarcely a backwards glance
from the passers by
–
three threadbare coats-
his breath still clouds
the autumn night
we’re only human
well, some of us anyway
the rest who can say?
–
under the covers
alone with
my mistakes
early morning moon-
fog nestles in the valleys
and clings to the leaves
–
moonrise-
gravestones hidden
in the mist
an old wire pushcart-
she sits alone on her bench
surrounded by birds
–
under the bridge-
her shopping cart
full of treasures
