Reveal

peeling back the dark
exposing the ugly truth
to the light of day

low tide-
broken shells
on the sand

Storm

in the western sky
the sun sets on iron clouds
promising thunder

leaves in the wind-
the low rumble
of distant thunder

Fall

summer’s final breath-
the wind in the autumn leaves
whispering goodbye

a covered bridge-
fallen leaves dance
before the rain

Shore

a rotting boardwalk
crosses an estuary
flowing to the sea

low tide-
razor clams
burrow in the mud

Moonlight

moonlight in her hair-
she walks along the shoreline
and into the night

a turtle’s splash –
the moon wavers
on the water

Gold

waiting on the sun-
geese fly before purple clouds
embroidered in gold

reflections-
golden koi
slowly pass

Homeless

alone on the street
with scarcely a backwards glance
from the passers by

three threadbare coats-
his breath still clouds
the autumn night

Humanity

we’re only human
well, some of us anyway
the rest who can say?

under the covers
alone with
my mistakes

Fog

early morning moon-
fog nestles in the valleys
and clings to the leaves

moonrise-
gravestones hidden
in the mist

Carts

an old wire pushcart-
she sits alone on her bench
surrounded by birds

under the bridge-
her shopping cart
full of treasures
