Photos

dark attic corners
within an old cardboard box
dusty memories

summer boardwalk-
sepia toned
memories

Rowboat

oars carve the water-
echoes of my lover’s voice
from the other shore

pale skin freckled-
fingers threading
through the water

Beach

white scrims of sea foam
gauzy and delicate as
a dragonfly’s wing

seaweed-
sun dried by
the high tide line

Shoreline

a weathered rowboat-
mooring line gently slapping
up against the dock

children jumping
from the pier-
lakeside

Hunt

above the highway
a red tailed hawk circling
riding the thermals

hunting-
an osprey plummets
to the sea

Seas

waiting for the sea-
an ancient mariner mourns
the arriving tide

bedraggled skies-
limp with rain over
an unkempt sea

Sea

offshore thunderstorms-
an old salt returns to the
bosom of the sea

crimson skies
a funeral boat
adrift and alight

Stoic

shards of broken glass
strewn deeply across my path
yet still I walk on

moonlit surf-
hatchling turtles
dash for the sea

Memorial

it’s far too simple-
these old men send the sons of
others to their deaths

a spring breeze-
the fog of war
swept out to sea

Stone

northern white cedars-
the cliff face of ragged stone
falling to the sea

out of the fog-
a grand tower
of sun bleached stone
