Risk
the time has come to
take my heart down off the shelf
and gift it to you
–
long winter shadows-
a snowshoe hare
braves the sun
the time has come to
take my heart down off the shelf
and gift it to you
–
long winter shadows-
a snowshoe hare
braves the sun
a grin escapes me-
one unseen piece of salmon
stuck to my cats nose
–
in the shadows-
my petite
stalker
boots in the water
my line slack on the surface
suddenly pulled taut
–
low morning light-
steam rises
off the lake
standing behind you
the center of attention
almost out of view
–
ill wind-
spiders repair
their broken webs
sitting on my couch
not sure if I can get up
after shoveling
–
rabbit tracks-
a snowy owl
motionless
champagne glass in hand-
ignoring the obvious
we toast our future
–
midnight sun-
a polar bear prowls
the city streets
another phone call-
your tired face deeply etched
with dissapointment
–
drifting snow-
fox prints near
an empty hutch
shrinking from the light
blended into the shadows
I’m invisible
–
dusk-
black clouds
rise from the earth
a thin skin of ice
on the koi pond slowly melts
in the morning sun
–
floating leaves-
autumn carp swim
in lazy circles
ahead of the dawn
plodding bleary eyed into
an ashen twilight
–
flannel sheets-
coyotes barking
before the sunrise
