Serenity

pockets of moonlight
across the rippled surface
of a mountain lake

midnight water-
still dragonflies
dimple the surface

Morning

april’s robin song-
the morning moon rolls over
and kisses the sun

cat at my feet-
your back warm
against my chest

Shore

a cool ocean breeze
comes onshore and brings the taste
of salt to my lips

low tide-
footprints of gulls
in the wet sand

Heat

my head in your hands
your eyes locked on mine pushing
hard against my lips

ripe cherries-
the sweet taste
of your seduction

Homecoming

canadian geese
on the way to warmer climes-
cloudless autumn sky

mottled light-
kits in their den
below the forest floor

Red

early may morning-
cardinals flit among the
forsythia blooms

noonday sun-
ripe strawberries
hiding in the shade

Rising

waking every day
under a threadbare blanket
to an empty bed

bleary eyed-
the crows outside
contemplate murder

Spring

an early robin-
lichen covered granite steps
cut into the hill

holly berries-
amid the ivy
a cardinal

Stone

in a farmer’s wall
amid the moss and loose stones
frogs sing in the night

crickets-
rain traces
stone to stone

Silence

as the sun rises
I try once more to forget
the sins of my past

spring evening-
frogs still
as I walk past
