Birth

open to the cold
exposed and vulnerable
naked and alone

new life-
tempted
by the light

Jamaica

from across the beach-
the hollow silver ring of
a turtle drum band

a cold red stripe-
cabana lights
gently sway

Acceptance

head back and arms wide
inviting the elements
to do what they will

an umbrella-
defenseless in
the light of day

Rain

drops of quicksilver
balanced precariously
on a blade of grass

stained glass-
the palette
heavy rain

Vacation

giggling children
burying my feet in warm
caribbean sands

shearwaters-
palms fronds
in the breeze

Anger

dark clouds veil the sun-
abandoned by my shadow
alone once again

brooding skies-
the scowl of
thunderclouds

Disappointment

standing by the sink
staring at my soapy hands
my momentum gone

blinders on-
running headlong
towards a dead end

Dirifting

intently watching
as the castle in the sky
slowly drifts apart

drifting snow-
together leading
separate lives

Disappointment

I break a bit more
every time I remember
you’re not coming home

overcast skies-
again the postman
skips my house

Ferrier

a saddle blanket-
the only thing found between
my jeans and my horse

horseshoes-
the coal forge
cherry red
