Blanket
rustling blankets-
your padding to the bathroom
teases me from sleep
–
the drive home-
fallen leaves
blanket the road
rustling blankets-
your padding to the bathroom
teases me from sleep
–
the drive home-
fallen leaves
blanket the road
summer’s final breath-
the wind in the autumn leaves
whispering goodbye
–
a covered bridge-
fallen leaves dance
before the rain
a rotting boardwalk
crosses an estuary
flowing to the sea
–
low tide-
razor clams
burrow in the mud
patiently waiting-
at the terminal rain sheets
down tinted windows
–
autumn evening-
once again
I’m alone
waiting on the sun-
geese fly before purple clouds
embroidered in gold
–
reflections-
golden koi
slowly pass
the first day of fall-
branches resplendent in green
all too soon barren
–
emerald flashes-
wild parrots nestle
in the trees
living in this house-
a shrine to your past regrets
and those yet to come
–
low tide-
finding sea glass
and jellyfish
an old wire pushcart-
she sits alone on her bench
surrounded by birds
–
under the bridge-
her shopping cart
full of treasures
walking the highway-
seems I lost myself while I
was looking for you
–
sandstorm-
the mirage
an oasis
an open textbook-
daydreams try to tease me through
an open window
–
blank paper-
hammers pounding
from the wall clock
