Blanket

rustling blankets-
your padding to the bathroom
teases me from sleep

the drive home-
fallen leaves
blanket the road

Fall

summer’s final breath-
the wind in the autumn leaves
whispering goodbye

a covered bridge-
fallen leaves dance
before the rain

Shore

a rotting boardwalk
crosses an estuary
flowing to the sea

low tide-
razor clams
burrow in the mud

Travel

patiently waiting-
at the terminal rain sheets
down tinted windows

autumn evening-
once again
I’m alone

Gold

waiting on the sun-
geese fly before purple clouds
embroidered in gold

reflections-
golden koi
slowly pass

Green

the first day of fall-
branches resplendent in green
all too soon barren

emerald flashes-
wild parrots nestle
in the trees

Regret

living in this house-
a shrine to your past regrets
and those yet to come

low tide-
finding sea glass
and jellyfish

Carts

an old wire pushcart-
she sits alone on her bench
surrounded by birds

under the bridge-
her shopping cart
full of treasures

Lost

walking the highway-
seems I lost myself while I
was looking for you

sandstorm-
the mirage
an oasis

School

an open textbook-
daydreams try to tease me through
an open window

blank paper-
hammers pounding
from the wall clock
