Snow
sitting on my couch
not sure if I can get up
after shoveling
–
rabbit tracks-
a snowy owl
motionless
sitting on my couch
not sure if I can get up
after shoveling
–
rabbit tracks-
a snowy owl
motionless
feeling impotent
my head full of words but I’m
unable to speak
–
snow fall-
staring out my
hospital window
shrinking from the light
blended into the shadows
I’m invisible
–
dusk-
black clouds
rise from the earth
the solar transit
far to brief indeed on this
winter solstice day
–
winter reborn-
I depart and return
in darkness
in the evening sky-
the suggestion of darkness
from the crescent moon
–
new moon-
black before
the dark of night
shutting out the crowd
absolutely enthralled by
the shape of your words
–
rising moon-
night rolls over
the winter hills
waiting on my touch
your warm skin rising up in
anticipation
–
rose petals-
the taste of
your breath
the taste of winter
falling from the sky for miles
to melt on my tongue
–
platform two-
frost gathers
on my lashes
southward flying geese
their long journey just begun
as mine is ending
–
warm boots-
my old dog’s
snowy muzzle
echoing silence-
bodies strewn haphazardly
on the downtown streets
–
an absence of birds-
villagers gather fish
in the receding sea
