Homecoming

canadian geese
on the way to warmer climes-
cloudless autumn sky

mottled light-
kits in their den
below the forest floor

Awake

I crawl into bed
too tired to fall asleep
reliving the day

a warm breeze-
awake in my bed
paralyzed

Wasted

nose against the glass
looking through my reflection
at life passing by

still water-
echos of
narcissus

Lightning

a cool cloudy night-
the horizon aglow with
fingers of lighting

dry lightning-
fire licks the walks
of the arroyo

Puppeteer

up above the fray
just outside of the spotlight
he tugs on the strings

a rumpled hat-
his marionette dances
for loose change

White

slices of the moon
slivered through the window blinds
drape across your back

snowy owl-
cold branches
in the dead of night

Sleep

your door left open-
looking back at you as I
close it behind me

moonlight-
your mobile
slowly winds down

Beach

seagulls hovering
wings outstretched and motionless
faced into the wind

sunrise-
beach sand in her
wind blown hair

Spring

this bitter old man
remnants of his acid breath
at last behind us

open windows-
daffodils
break the soil

Barns

blue moonlight drips through
holes in the tattered shingles
onto the barn floor

peeling red paint-
the barn door
hangs askew
