Wind

leaves swirl in the wind-
a blackbird takes his respite
on my windowsill

dandelion seeds-
wishes adrift
on the wind

Heat

an empty porch swing-
lazy paddle fans disturb
the hot southern air

the forest floor-
dragonflies still
in the thick air

Dusk

as venus rises
the sun on the horizon
sets the trees aglow

western fires-
too soon dowsed
by a deluge of stars

Web

she turns a shy smile-
a web of hairline cracks form
in his tough facade

cobwebs-
broken plaster
litters the floor

Serenity

pockets of moonlight
across the rippled surface
of a mountain lake

midnight water-
still dragonflies
dimple the surface

Kiss

home with my regrets
I should have asked for a kiss
when I had the chance

your upturned lips-
moths flutter
in the porch light

Ash

clouds out ash and dust-
the soil of this arid land
affords no purchase

orange skies-
rivers of black glass
plunge into the sea

Stars

pinpoints of starlight
fall from the firmament and
streak across the sky

midnight-
lines of fire
split the sky

Heat

my head in your hands
your eyes locked on mine pushing
hard against my lips

ripe cherries-
the sweet taste
of your seduction

Tornados

dark foreboding clouds
low in the afternoon sky
harbingers of doom

soft rain-
broken trees
and power lines
