a mirror’s surface
where the water meets the shore
ripples in the wind

in the forest pond
floating water lilies tint
the fishes below

ripple-
a golden koi
breaks the surface

amid the spring blooms
autumn’s final vestiges
at last put to rest
–
fallen leaves-
in time become
new soil

waves topped by whitecaps
crash onto the jetty far
below my window
–
breaking waves-
ocean and shore
sotto voce

footprints in the grass
below my bedroom widow
revealed by the dawn
–
hidden-
disguised by the night
peering undetected

when I’ve lost my way
the candle in your window
beckons me back home
–
wandering-
guided towards
your light

gentle drops of rain
darken the soil in prelude
to the coming storm
–
afternoon mizzle
darkening clouds
on the horizon

honeysuckle vines
distilling morning sunlight
into liquid gold
–
honeysuckles-
concentrating

the noise in my head
a constant cacophony
that gives me no peace
