Venus

borne out of the waves-
spun copper hair draped over
alabaster skin

first starlight-
the sharp bite of
an autumn eve

Snow

a patchwork of white-
remnants of an autumn snow
melting in the sun

snow covered leaves-
ice glazed berries
grace the holly bush

Early

sleep clouding my eyes
I drive into the sunrise-
a cold autumn moon

cold dark morn-
torn from the womb
of my comforter

Snowing

slow curls of wood smoke-
snow covers the cabin roofs
nestled in the trees

pine boughs-
bent and white
with autumn snow
#snowing

Sere

a cruel summer sun
the earth blistering beneath
her withering gaze

abandoned-
once fertile soil
becomes as dust

Wind

cold wind in my face-
through watering eyes I watch
hawks soar overhead

pure joy-
jowls flapping
in the slipstream

Wind

leafless and barren
bowed trees pledge their fealty
to the harsh north wind

november eve-
silver wind in
empty trees

Ice

woodsmoke in the air-
frozen rain falling on the
dry autumn leaves

coals set to bed-
the crackle of sleet
lingers in my ears
