Water

An earthworm stranded
Upon a rain slicked sidewalk.
Shriveled doom awaits.

    Thunder from the sky
Dark clouds heavy with cold tears
    Wet the waiting earth

    It is time for bed.
    The midnight hour is nearby.
    That is all…I drown.

    Those who travel far.
Those who fly and those who cruise.

      Clouds part before us
as we float over our cares
      on autopilot.

    Below equator
The swirls rotate to the right.

      In the southern lands

    Liquid in the tub.
    Rubber duckies floating by.
    Down the drain they go.

      Bubbles pop, ducks swirl.
As the tub drains they rotate
      Always to the left.

    Tears fall from my eyes
    Drowning your little earthworm
